Best Plastic for CNC Machining

Best Plastic for CNC Machining

1. Precautions for CNC processing Plastics:
CNC processing of plastic parts is similar to metal processing. Generally, there is no need to add coolant to process plastics, and the speed is not easy to be too high. Attention should be paid mainly to the clamping of plastic parts because plastic parts are easy to deform during positioning and clamping.

2. Materials and material properties used in CNC plastic processing:
ABS: density of 1.2, good toughness, can be bonded, and can be baked to 70-80 degrees after oil injection.
PMMA: density 1.3, relatively broken, good transparency, can be bonded, and can be baked to about 65 degrees after oil injection.
PC: density 1.2, can withstand 120 ℃ high temperature, can be bonded, can spray oil, and the transparency in general.
POM (saigang): density 2, high strength, good toughness, no oil injection, no bonding, wear resistance.
PP: density 1.1, high strength, good toughness, can spray oil, can not be bonded.
Bakelite: density 2, high strength, good toughness, can not spray oil, can not be bonded, and can withstand 250 ℃ high temperature.
Nylon: density 1.2, high strength, good toughness, no oil injection, no bonding.
475 rubber plate: density 1.2, relatively soft, poor toughness, can withstand the high temperature of 60-70 degrees.
Plastic King (PTFE): density 2.2, can not be bonded, can not spray, can withstand 250 ℃ high temperature, relatively soft.

If your OEM plastic part structure is very complex and needs to be machined, professional guidance can make the project more smoothly, Any questions are welcomed.
